I thought this was a good comedy, so I'm surprised by the ratings this one has received. It's not a masterpiece or a laugh riot, but it made me laugh more than 80% of the comedies out there.

Broderick, in his Election flawed & frustrated everyman mode, is great, but 2 much else falls short. The entire movie feels like something that read well but fizzled in the translation 2 screen. The script is often genuine & unpredictable, but there's a wildly uneven tone throughout as starkly dramatic moments jarringly crash in2 comedic ones. And although the jokes r usually unforced & organic, they usually land w/ a thud.
