Almost all of the score for this movie goes towards the awful and inhuman abduction and the scene on the ship. Those few minutes on-screen make up for much of the plodding pacing that comes before and after. However, I must agree with most commenters here that this scene is the highlight of the movie, and you can about 90% of the 'juice' of the movie just by watching this scene. Still, it's far from terrible... just a bit boring.

Terrible acting on everyone's part, especially the women. Right when things get interesting, they decide to ruin it with their 'emotions'. The best part was the ship, should have made that more of the movie..

Saw this in the theater originally and I remember that it built up some fantastic suspense. The spaceship scene was pretty good and worth the price of admission. However it was nothing special and the story was plodding at times.

I see why the director made this movie: he wanted to show the events inside the alien ship. Too bad he also had to make the rest of the movie. This should have been a short film showing the abduction and the events in the ship, because those fifteen minutes were some of the best sci-fi horror I've seen. Too bad I had to sit through another hour and a half of mediocrity to get to them.

Torme adapted Wilson's book _The Walton Experience_, the supposedly true story of his abduction by aliens. The always likable Sweeney is good as Wilson and there's a telling cameo by a rock-solid James Garner, but how much you warm up to this rather tepid sci-fi drama will depend entirely on how much of it you're willing to believe.

Had it had a more generous production budget, the outcome would've certainly been more effective regarding the sci-fi elements. The scale and scope are modest at best. The visual resources onscreen are clearly limited. Anyway, it's still a spooky and unpretentious little cult gem which somewhat resembles the classic Spielberg masterpiece "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" a bit during some moments. An obscure film waiting to be discovered.
