"Had it been made shortly after 9/11, Firehouse Dog might have seemed like a shameless attempt to marry the country's reverence for the New York Fire Department with Air Bud." - Nick Schager

I couldn't help but enjoy this film. Sure, it had its plot holes, and the plot was predictable but I found it thoroughly entertaining. The dog does not speak, but it didn't need to, as a character with a personality it was fully formed. If it did speak, it would have been far worse.

Unremarkable but endearing movie. Titular dog plays a minor role in this story of a boy and his father coming to terms with the loss of a family member, although the dog does have some rather memorable action sequences. Refreshingly, the dog is just a dog - no talking and limited use of bad CGI facial expression. The plot is rather predictable, containing elements anyone can see coming a mile off, but its heart is in the right place.

Too long for a kids movie, but it's actually not that bad, always seeming to know exactly what kind of movie it is and playing with that. It only disappoints when it resorts to potty humor a few times. See it for the hilarious CGI.
