Honestly, I thought the BBC production was far better. This seemed to lack heart, a growing trend in films where visuals outrank the story. The score was over-the-top and was present in places where the film would have been better off without it; we never really got to experience the supposed eeriness and maddening quiet of the castle, for instance. All in all, not a bad effort, but it could have been so much better. Eddie Izzard really saved this from a low score!

the animation was very well done, the plot was slightly on the hollow side, my only major complaint is that the music is terrible. eddie izzard provides a fantastic voice, he does extremely well, no kidding.
