Good artistry, high fantasy stuff really pulled me in when I was a kid, but it always pissed me off that stories like this were so damn simplistic and kitschy. I yearned for fantasy fare that was more "realistic": gritty, unpredictable and not so ordered and didactic.

The Yellow Wizard is Chinese. The Blue Wizard is Black. That had to be intentional.

It's fantasy and animation, and it came out at a point in my life where I could appreciate these things. Movie isn't super special or anything, but it is memorable. Not a huge fan of the way it ended looking back at it.

My memory didn't lie! An outstanding kids' film; fast-paced, no gaping plot holes, and an exciting story, filled with thrilling adventure, ogres, knights, elves, wizards, and even demonic rats! Attempting a scientific explanation for the flight of dragons, their fire-breathing, and other mythology was a neat touch, and the voice acting is great, even incorporating some subtle humor. But the final battle is the best, with the hero using the power of science to defeat the evil wizard monstrosity!

This movie is a dork, but I love me a good quest. If you want to see the lamest Dragon Slaying ever, this is where you'll find it!

A fabulous little animated fantasy story. A great tale of science vs. magic. Good for the kids, and good enough that adults can enjoy a showing and share some time with the young ones.

Tame.

One of the best fantasy movies out there. Basic television saturday morning animation but with a story like no other and tons of atmosphere. Among the very best fantasy movies ever made.
