a couple good dance numbers, and only one good song. the plot here is better than some astaire movies, but it's nothing special either. the biggest problem with this one is that astaire and rogers do numerous dance routines where there should have been tap dancing, but wasn't.

The story is weak even by Astaire-Rogers screenplay standards, and Scott and Harriet Hilliard (later of "Ozzie and Harriet") don't contribute much. Only one first-rate Berlin tune: "Let's Face the Music and Dance."

"Burdened with a dull plot but blessed with a rousing Irving Berlin score." - Dan Callahan

Extra 5 points just for "Let's Face the Music and Dance." Along with "My Man Godfrey," the highest scoring film of 1936, with "Swing Time" a very close third.

A few deviations in the Sandrich formula, some work [Gingers solo], others don't [music numbers without Gingers/Astaire]. The story borders on useless as usual, but this has two of my favorite dance sequences I've yet seen.
