Half-gem, half-folly, For Ever Mozart succeeds thanks to the presence of so many transcendent, evocative images that lend weight to the philosophical wondering of characters before us and complement a "film within a film" plotline that's occasionally sensational. The film's compositions and scenarios sporadically recall greater Godard (Detective, Oh Woe is Me, Notre Musique), but even with these moments in mind, it's a lesser work.
