One of the worst dramas ever made. Note to Oscar for giving Julianne Moore four nominations thus far - you ought to retract two of them for her terrible over-the-top performance that culminates and explodes in one of the biggest soap-operatic conclusions ever filmed, bubbling into complete embarrassment to the point where I think I had a little bit of vomit in the back of my throat. Who really cares, I guess, since no one else paid to see this slop.

Julianne Moore brings it down from terrible to horrible.

I didn't really hate this as much as everyone else seems to. Yes, it's a bit contrived and the ending really annoyed me, but Jackson and Moore made the movie watchable for me.

Not as awful as all the other scores show, but it is true that this film lacks a decent and well built story, some decent pacing and good performances.

Terrible movie. Horrible ending. I can't stand how Julianne Moore always has to play the annoying, over-the-top female lead.

This exceeded my expectations and then some. I really enjoyed Jackson's character even though he does pretty much the opposite of what he's supposed to do most of the time. And Moore's performance is amazing, even if you find the character frustrating. I also felt like the ending was incredibly dramatic. Really enjoyable and different cop movie.

Racial tensions explode in a neighborhood over a missing child case There's a lot going on in the film and at times hard to follow but overall good movie

Any individual scene is largely fine, but there doesn't seem to be any connective tissue. Each scene just kind of pops out of nowhere. And the characters behave in ways that no one would in a real situation. There are a few really powerful performances (Edie Falco's scene in the woods is something I won't forget), but overall it's an over-dramatic mess that wastes some great talent.

Uncomfortable to watch, partly because of subject matter, but mostly because of the film's overall quality (or lack thereof).

I rated this shortly after I saw it, and writing this now I can't remember anything about it. Good sign.

This is an absolutely horrible movie that should be avoided at all costs. Considering the two leading actors, Moore and Jackson are relatively decent there's no excuse for this being the terrible trash that it is.

I didn't think a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore and based on a pretty good book by Richard Price could possibly be this bad. Kudos to Director Joe "Christmas With Cranks" Roth!

Samuel L. Jackson, Juliane Moore. Great leads. But, good actors can't make a bad movie good. Just not possible. Freedomland is all the proof you'll need.

I can't believe that Jackson and Moore could overact that badly. The only reason I can think of is that the director had them on gunpoint.
