Summary: A twisted take on 'Little Red Riding Hood' with a teenage juvenile delinquent on the run from a social worker traveling to her grandmother's house and being hounded by a charming, but sadistic, serial killer/pedophile. (imdb)
Very black comedy with some pointed things to say about the justice system. The production values are very low rent (was it shot on DV?) but that kind of fits with the trailer trash setting. Messy but hugely enjoyable.
Witherspoon seems to have fun as an aggressive trashy teenager, and Sutherland makes a wonderfully creepy antagonist, but the film itself is kind of a mess. A glorious, twisted mess filled with despicable characters that loses focus in the second half.
Here was a movie I didn't even hear of until recently and I found this to be quite different and refreshing. Sure it is a take on Little Red Riding Hood, but it is pretty violent, gruesome and gritty. Kiefer Sutherland was superb, creepy and this was probably the best performance you will ever get out of Reese Witherspoon. No characters to root for as they all are someone you just wouldn't like, but this is a very fun movie to watch. Great cast as well.
A really crazy, weird movie with a lovely, beautiful R.Witherspoon who was here very young. At the end it was a cat and mouse game like in the fairy tale : Little Red Riding Hood. Nice, good thriller.
"This is trashy entertainment at its stylish best, with colorful characters and events that manage to appeal to most people, but it isn't as clever as it thinks it is and is therefore too dumb to be a satire, too low-brow to be funny and too full of repulsive people to be involving. Like a car wreck though, it is entertaining."
Wanted it to last longer. Low maybe isn't as fabulous as it's exciting but fascinating nonetheless, and "Freeway" won't apologize just like it's heroine doesn't.
Thriller podlany duza iloscia czarnego humoru. Dobre aktorstwo. Razi jednak brak konsekwencji, tak jakby rezyser nie mogl do konca zdecydowac czy robi thriller czy czarna komedie.
I rate this movie as highly as I do because of Kiefer Sutherland's character (and almost that alone). The movie gets insanely ridiculous about half way through, and they ride the "Little Red Riding Hood" theme to death. But, Kiefer's character "Bob" is one of my favorite villains of all time. After he become disfigured is kinda lame, but while they are riding in his Explorer.......absolute gold.
Weird, but oddly entertaining. I'd like to give this movie some sort of positive praise, but it really felt like a train wreck. Definitely entertaining, but too surreal and one-dimensional to be of any real value.
Kiefer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon are both so on top of their game in this movie. It's creepy, and it's hilarious. You can't get much better for my money.
Twisted and hilarious, with a (typically) dynamite performance by Reese Witherspoon as the volatile Vanessa Lutz, and a very creepy Kiefer Sutherland as a big bad wolf-like serial killer. A perfect black comedy.
