Cold and uninvolving, plus Montgomery Clift as Freud seems almost as nuts as a lot of the patients. It doesn't help that this is told as a heroic tale when "psychotherapy" so often looks like a scam perpetrated upon the weak by the lazy

Thriller. Wide open eyed Freud is very cool. when he was explaining Oedipous complex on last speech scene, all laughed at him. He was calm and self-confident.

Slow-moving yet fascinating. Sadly never properly restored for either DVD or HD, and so some of the punch of the beautiful cinematography is lost watching it in it's current state (with dream sequences that, shall we say, "are an homage" to Wild Strawberries. "Rip off" sounds so ugly). It certainly drags at times, but in the end it's worth committing to.
