I really don't get those black (as in skin color) comedies. Seems the message of the film is use your fists, not guns. It's kind of sad that such messages are needed in teen film.

Director's cut

What makes Friday good is the humor is silly but never preposterous. The characters never take themselves too seriously and there is no deep moral message beyond two guys hanging out in a suburban "hood" on a Friday. This is a perfect depiction of life in the CA suburbs but it could have been anywhere in America. This is probably the most convincing role Ice Cube has been in since he's probably just acting like himself.

It is a good comedy, for days when you needed to see a comedy. Perhaps the story is too simple and could be developed further. Anyway, is a comedy, and is fun, without others pretensions.

Crappy, low-brow, 90's "black comedy". Even in that lousy genre, give me something "Don't be a Menace to..." or even Kid N' Play's "Class Act" over this garbage. Chris Tucker is irritating and not funny and Ice Cube can't act to save his life. A lot of stereotypical and dumb events befall our protagonists, most of them dull and uninspired. No idiots, "you got knocked the fuck out!" is not an original or funny line. If that's the best you can quote me, then this picture truly is a piece of shit.
