The herd opinion of this movie is unjustified. Of course, it is extremely light and silly, contains some inferior acting, is directed at a juvenile audience and driven by commercial imperatives. But some of the numbers and choreography are better than reviews indicate, and there is some genuine talent on display. Far worse films abound.

A mindless, tedious waste of film that left me in an emotionally void state once it had ended. This is the sort of film that should be prescribed by psychiatrists who have to deal people who have had a massively traumatic event. Put the film on, and they will feel nothing afterwards.

Easily one of the corniest films I've seen as well as having the most stereotypical characters and predictable storyline. Sure the songs might have been OK but they didn't fit in with the plot just like the random dance breaks didn't either. Acting wise they were OK but it was kind of obvious both Justin and Kelly should stick to singing. The sub-plots with the other minor characters were terrible. Overall its bad and while its not boring its certainly painful to watch.

Arguably one of the worst films of the modern era. The plot was contrived, tissue-thin, and hackneyed, the dialogue was wooden and sounded like it was written by an 8-year-old, and the musical numbers... bizarre.
Watching this is sort of like watching a train wreck.

Only see this movie if you are an American Idol fan. It is really that bad. I've never missed an episode of Idol, and I was curious, so I bought it in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. Good god is it horrible. Kelly is so ugly at certain points in the movie, that you just want to puke.
