An effort to make John Travolta seem impossibly cool and twenty years younger. I'm not saying Travolta isn't cool (he is), they just take this one a bit too far. For a guy who's entire goal is to be special ops, Meyers' character gets awfully squeamish awfully fast. The movie has some fun moments, but it largely feels like they're trying too hard to make an incredibly generic buddy cop flick (including an ending that clearly shows they want to make it a franchise.)

A harmless, but utterly expendable Besson-esque actioner, with little brains or thrills and no personality. Travolta hams it up as the script jumps from one action set piece to the next, characters we don't care about churn out one-liners as easily as they off the bad guys and stuff blows up real good. Not everything is forgettable though -a climactic car chase utilizing Travolta, a bazooka and some frantic camerawork is the only truly enjoyable sequence in this otherwise joyless genre picture.
