Not the best of the new French horror, but certainly entertaining, bloody, and, as is often the case with said horrors, pretty ridiculous. This particular one is perhaps a little too "look-how-ridiculous this is" for my tastes, but yeah, still a good time.

Starts promisingly, then descends into a bloody gutter of I-don't-give-a-fuck-what-happens-in-this-movie.

One of the After Dark jewels...this movie is brutal. Its torture porn, its cruel...and the last 15 mins of the movie are so over the top...this is by far a movie that will divide audiences

Another shameless, pale ripoff of every other survival/slasher flick you've seen, especially TCM. The secret of (the original) Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes' success was that they were strangely believable, and the rugged look contributed to that. Even if you've never seen a horror movie before and can't spot the clichés, Frontière(s) is over-stylized and overwrought, and everything about it - form and substance - screams fake.

The weakest of the new wave of French "vomit" cinema (Haute Tension, Inside, Marytrs) is still pretty damn good. The TCM element didn't really work but the third act...hot damn. Even had my jaded mouth agape. My favorite as pure slash flick is still Haute, Inside is the best "they're coming to get you" flick, and Martyrs for having a genuinely strong (and completely messed up) central theme. To even be included with these great films is a triumph for Frontier(s).

Awfully bad.

Deserves some credit for the good visuals and the occasional good mood, but otherwise it's just another bad survival horror movie.

What kind of excuse of a film is this? A poorly executed survival horror flick. The concept and premise has been done way too many times, and the final girl is really pathetic. However, the build-up to the kills are really well-done and chilling, racking up some extra points.

Very good for its genre! The buildup is much more interesting than other modern exploitation/gore films, more like a classic horror. Also the main female character is not the usual sexy stupid teen but a really tough but scared woman with none of the sexism that usually follows. As a gore movie it does not fail either, the violence is very dirty.

Few good moments but otherwise pretty shitty movie which offers nothing new.

not as good as saw/hostel, about as good as storm warning.

I liked this movie because of its well made silliness. I mean, really, this movie has it all. Gore? Incest? Nazis? Cannibalism? Political commentary? Car chases? Gun fights? Yes! All of that is in here! It's like a Wendy's Value Meal. I enjoyed it in spite of its unoriginality and lack of real personality.

Survival horror once again. I enjoyed the premises of this one a bit more than most, but it really has nothing new to offer.
