Summary: Dark forces older than time itself are on the attack to stop the dawn of a wondrous new green age. Bender's in love with a married fembot, and Leela's on the run from the law - Zapp Brannigan's law! Fry is the last hope of the universe, recruited for an ultra-top-secret mission. Could this be the end of the Planet Express crew forever?
It's funny, but not consistently; the plot isn't bad, but it doesn't feel as though it hangs together as well as it might. Strictly par for the course as far as the Futurama movies are concerned.
Because the main story was pretty lackluster I never really could get into the crazy antics that went along with it. Some of the jokes were really stretched out or felt like a repeat of older ones, and the whole thing just ends for no good reason. "Oh I guess we go into this wormhole now welp g'bye!". Nice to see every futurama character ever make an appearance in that massive crowd scene, though.
Hippie review: 'Into the Wild Green Yonder' is like... the universe, dude.. there are many small shiny moments of light out there... but also a lot of darkness in between.
The last chapter in the stray feature-length mishmash. This is exactly as mixed a pleasure as the previous ones: good jokes and funny moments are scattered through a heavy-handed plot. Overall the 4 movies illustrates that Futurama works best in its native 25 minute format. Luckily the powers that be seems to have learnt from this, because the following "real" season (made possible because of these movies' succes) is back to the high quality of the pre-cancellation seasons. Huzzah!
I can understand some of the criticism for this, but I thought this was a good send-off for the show while still keeping a door open for future stories.
