For a comedy it sure is lacking on the humor.

One of those films that could only be done in the 70's. It's a comedy but contains some pretty dark stuff like kids trying to burn bums and catching of rapists. Still, I wouldn't call it a dark comedy as the tone is otherwise pretty light. It's very disjointed and contains plot threads that could have been cut without any effect. Reynolds is not yet a *star* and his part is about the same size as Skerritt's. Brynner makes a late entry as the baddie and Raquel Welch's role feels like an add-on.
