For someone who does not follow football (at all!) and who has never heard of Paul Gascoigne, I liked this documentary. It does it very well, with enough information in it so that someone like me can follow the story and realize just quite the achievements Gascoigne has made. This is the way a documentary should be (thinking about the awful way Ballet 422 was filmed). 60/100.

very weak and boring documentary even for a big football fan..

What an odd documentary. While ostensibly focusing on Gazza's playing career, we're given snippets of his personal life - including harrowing tales of the part he played in the deaths of two young family friends, and the mental anguish of being bugged by tabloids for over a decade. But then it ends (peculiarly during his time at Rangers), barely touching on his post-career problems whatsoever. Not a bad doc even if you know everything about him, this just feels half-complete.

What Gascoigne (2015) is, is a celebration of Paul Gascoigne how we want to remember him. Those magical moments on the football field and crazy antics off the pitch. But of course we know what a troubled life he has led since, and this documentary doesn't really want to touch on that. Don't really get deep enough underneath his dual personality. We only see the highlights he achieved as one of the most unique football personalities this world has ever seen.
