Summary: Kitaro is a half-human, half-yokai who lives in a tree house with other yokai (monsters). When a series of events leads to his friend Kento coming into possession of a powerful glowing stone that belongs to the Fox spirits he and his yokai friends must keep the stone out of the wrong hands to save the human race from destruction. Dumb as bricks. The character design was awesome, the effects were good, but the whole production was so one-dimensional I wanted to pull my hair out. The moral: bring fried tofu to your ancestors' graves, or the bad shit in this movie will happen to you. Really. They said that.

When a live-action movie has the gall to feature an eyeball-headed character that talks despite the lack of a mouth, you know you're dealing with an unsophisticated live-action adap of an animation. Sporadically interesting but nonetheless pretty worthless, Kitaro could have learned from the treatment currently being given in the Batman revisions.
