You've decided to remember Geronimo: An American Legend for later. You can see all your remembered films here.
Summary: The Apache Indians have reluctantly agreed to settle on a US Government approved reservation. Not all the Apaches are able to adapt to the life of corn farmers. One in particular, Geronimo, is restless. Pushed over the edge by broken promises and necessary actions by the government, Geronimo and thirty or so other warriors form an attack team which humiliates the government by evading capture, while reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. Acting of the stiffest order sabotoges an otherwise strong movie.

As I recall, Geronimo: An American Legend is a bad history movie. Most are good with a mix of laugh's, action, and obviously a historical view, But not this one.

The best of Walter Hill's films, and one of the very best Westerns ever made. It has an intelligent script, terrific performances (especially Wes Studi as Geronimo, but also Jason Patric as a Virginia cavalry officer), and well-edited action sequences. A much under-rated and under-appreciated film.

very interesting movie, pleasantly surprised by this one, came on a movie channel and I wasn't expecting anything. It really is a terrible thing that happened to the indians. No Justice whatsoever for people who simply have a different way of living life and fought against the expansion to preserve what they know. Great performances by everyone involved. Death to White-eye!

Hill has made better Westerns before: _The Long Riders_, the modern-dress _Extreme Prejudice_. In fact he has made better Westerns when he was not making a Western: _The Driver_, _The Warriors_, _Streets of Fire_. But this one (with no small debt to _Dances with Wolves_) has enabled him to come out of hiding, to throw off the camouflage, and to express openly a sentiment common to Westerns, though a new one to Hill: a quasi-anthropological tristesse over a fading way of life.

Not nearly as bad as you would expect. Robert Duvall loves embodying "Western", and a young Matt Damon is a highlight.
