Summary: Ambitious young record company intern Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill) will let nothing get in the way of his planned rise to the top in the music business -- not even the unruly rock star (Russell Brand) he must escort to Los Angeles for the start of his world tour. Doing whatever it takes to get the rocker from Point A to Point B, Aaron encounters all manners of mishaps.
A few scenes kind of dragged and a lot of it was filler. It was however, very funny and even sweet at times. The relationship side story between Hill and Moss felt a little needless most of the time. Rose Byrne was great as was Brand. I enjoyed myself, a few big laughs and a few cring-worthy moments. Also, Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs was great in this, who would have thought?!
Two-thirds of the way through the movie, I was sold on it being the best thing Apatow had ever produced: the satire is sharp, and the jokes are manic & unrelenting. But boy does it ever go off the rails towards the finish. Brand's arc feels totally contrived and meaningless, given he seems like a completely different character than he was in FSM. It doesn't fail because the audience doesn't want to see Snow grow, but because they didn't need to see him grow *in this way*. Fun, but disappointing.
Get Him to the Greek wasn't funny. It treated addiction in a poor way, and because of that, you end up feeling sorry for one of the main characters, unable to laugh at all of the antics that he causes just because you know that he needs to get help. Yes, some of the situations can be funny, but for the most part, the jokes fail to click, which is a shame, because regardless of whether or not a joke works or not, the film will use the same joke at least a couple of more times.
while it has its moments, get him to the greek just doesn't have what it takes to be a full feature for a side character. Brand's character might have been amusing sideshow in Sarah Marshall, he becomes too much of a annoying and repetetive gag here. Jonah Hill is good, and rose bryne is excellent, but there's simply not enough juice in this film.
This movie is supposed to be a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the only connection with it being Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). This movie is not the same as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but is still kind of funny. Some scenes were not funny but rather stupid. The most hilarious dialogue being "So Why don't you go and sue Napster, you little Danish twat?" Overall a decently entertaining movie.
I've had enough of Brand by now, and this spinoff from the great Forgetting Sarah Marshall has some memorable moments but is far from great! An example on how studios try to make a little extra dough on characters, who served best in the original movie and shouldnt have their own go at it!
definately not a throwaway comedy, brand does a great job, but hill is only good at the odd moment. the shenanigans are really what makes this movie good, and even though they're more sparse than one would like this is still one of the best comedies of the year.
Jonah Hill can't carry a movie....ok, lesson learned. Russell Brand has a great character, but it was funnier in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Let's see what else...oh, vomiting isn't funny
