I can't be objective about this movie. I mean the movie itself must be way below 88/100, but I grew up on this shit. I remember when I first heard South of heaven, that was it for me. I fucking love thrash metal.

Solid oral history of thrash metal and some related subgenres like hardcore and crossover. History covers the early days of Metallica, the rise of the Big Four and their respective metal scenes in the US, thrash around the world, the dark ages of nu metal, and the current resurgence of metal worldwide. Great for metalheads, not so great for anyone else.

Most of this documentary's explication -- and probably most of its value -- is aimed towards the younger set who are getting into it through the revival bands like Municipal Waste and Bonded By Blood and whatever else. Those of us who know this stuff already are left listening to people like Corey Taylor gush about how fucking awesome Anthrax was, man.

Really basic in information. Talked about only the big 4 and a couple other bands that don't really matter. Boring as well. Dan Lilker blows.
