This film has all the worst qualities of the worst kind of comicbook movie. The worst part is the crushingly serious Buffy level pop-myth bullshit. It makes me a little bit sad to think this was Nic Cage's pet project.

A reasonably good Action/Horror film despite the fact that I'm really no fan of Nicolas Cage (he kind of irritates me) and its a very corny movie, but there's enough there to make it enjoyable. Storyline is OK, I quite like the darker side to it with Wes Bentley as Blackheart, who is quite a likeable villain. Nicolas Cage provides some humor which is a bit stale, but I can see why others might like it. Overall it should please male viewers, especially with hottie Eva Mendes, so check it out.
