Summary: Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is set in 2032, when the line between humans and machines has been blurred almost beyond distinction. Batou, a cyborg detective for the government's covert anti-terrorist unit, is investigating the case of a gynoid - a hyper-realistic female robot created specifically for sexual companionship - who malfunctions and slaughters her owner. Though visually and auditorily stunning (as with the rest of Ghost in the Shell), the story got a little too confusing. The philosophical questions posed were not as thought-provoking as with the rest of this series of films and animes.

Pretentious, and not as engaging as I'd hoped. Having characters quote philosophers or classical writings gets old very fast. The story is never really engaging, and seems to mainly be concerned with wanting the viewer to think it's deep and complex. The animation is pretty good, but the added CGI often falls flat.
