"It's a portrait of both suffering and success, and one that the directors refuse to gussy up in overly sentimental or derisive ways." - Nick Schager

it definitely felt like something you'd be assigned to watch in a cultural anthropology class, but with better production value. it's an amazing story... i only wish they would've gone a bit deeper into certain issues. definitely a worthwhile documentary.

Beautifully touching film that illustrates why cultural differences should be accepted and just how important it is for developed nations to greatly assist the third world. It's so wonderful to see people with nothing given an opportunity and then make more of it than most of us here will ever do with our entire lives. Quite inspiring.

Great film about several people from Sudan who have a chance to come live in the United States. At times sad, at times heartwarming, it's quite powerful to watch, and really brings attention to the plights of these people and their relatives.

When the "Lost Boys" leave behind the wretched conditions of their refugee camp for a fresh start in the US, it becomes quickly apparent that they've traded one set of problems for another. In America they're healthier, given more choice, and start earning money. But, like most of us, they become bored with routines, isolated from others, and feel spiritually deadened. So where are they better off? I don't think this was the intended message of the film, but it was its most fascinating question.

I loved this. The topic was fascinating, I learned a lot, I'm still thinking about it a few days later....all things I look for in a documentary. Seeing America through their fresh eyes is kind of a bummer (because all of their criticisms are so right), but that wasn't a surprise.
