One of the least conventional crime films from Japan I have ever seen, even making some of Takashi Miike's work seem conventional, mixing between humour, sickening violence and by the end a genuine emotional power, breaking taboos and using everything the director could do in the script and on camera to subvert the familiar plot. The result will not be for everyone but for me was a wonderful surprise.

A yakuza/drama/heist film with a touch of socioeconomic and gay undertones. That sounds like an awesome movie - or at least interesting - this isn't, it's a mess. There is a certain entertainment to be found (especially in the first half), but while most scripts usually fail in being generally inept, this one feels incomplete; as if key parts that explained character and plot details were removed. I'd consider this a worthwhile mess, but just barely.

Even Takeshi (which shows up late in the movie) couldn't save this. Some scenes were interesting but they're still not worth to watch the whole movie.
