This film can't make up its mind whether it wants to be slightly campy or serious. Dennis Quaid is way over the top in his performance and his lip-synching is terrible. If you want to see how to make a good Rock & Roll biopic, then watch The Buddy Holly Story instead.

This movie has single-handedly made me a believer in Dennis Quaid. He's effectively out of his mind and out of control as JLL. Tremendously entertaining movie, if a little superficial.

As biopics go, this is a very good one (although not as good as Ray). Quaid does a great job of capturing the legend of Jerry Lee Lewis and his times. Baldwin's Swaggart is also very well done.
