Green Fish is a solid directorial debut from Lee Chang-dong, a scripwriter and novelist. His experience is evident as the script is undeniably solid and sound. However, Green Fish is essentially a gangster film that does not diverge much from the genre. Nevertheless, it is a well-done film that achieves all the objectives of the genre, and Lee Chang-dong also seems to possess much directorial potential with some inspired shot choices and great performances from his cast.
