Generally entertaining, but slowly paced. If you've seen a killers-in-love movie, then you've seen this whole story before. And in this one, the main character isn't even a criminal at heart; it's all his evil wife's fault for asking him to commit crimes. What's most impressive is the two leads--they seem to speak and behave naturally, and with feeling and nuance not usually seen in films of this era. There's also fun old dialogue like "some men are born dumb."

This is a fun little noir. Cummins is a great femme fatale, because her character is nearly impossible to read, and that ambiguity of her true motivations really makes this an interesting film. Yeah, Gun Crazy is a typical, albeit fun noir, but every here and then it shows signs of being ahead of its time. Score is not a grade.

It's a good film noir where the characters, rather than the events, carry you through the film. The only problem I had is that I found the resolution somewhat unsatisfying, even though the very end was well executed. There was a point where certain things felt forced and it took me out of the film.

An excellent noir about bank-robbing lovers that points the way for Bonnie & Clyde (though I actually prefer this). Some stellar shots (the robbery shot from the backseat of the car comes to mind), a tense plot, and great characters.

John Dall is excellent as the gun loving mope whose life quickly spirals out of control after hooking up with a female sideshow sharpshooter. Thoroughly enjoyable, with great characters and cinematography. The original title (Deadly is the Female) is much more appropriate.

Someone tells Bart near the beginning of this film that some men are born smart with women, but he was born dumb. Well, that ain't the half of it, but it sure does take us on a ride.

An intense noir that tells a Bonnie and Clyde-style story, with one hell of a Bonnie. Peggy Cummins is great as the femme fatale, you're never quite sure how sincere her character is being. It's interesting that John Dall is playing pretty much the opposite of the character in his previous film, Hitchcock's Rope. In this one, he's the more unwilling partner in crime whereas before he was the dominant one. The film is stylish and steamy and a little bit sleazy, and definitely holds your interest.

A pretty effective story of two folks made for each other, but doomed because of it. The filming is effective, both in the realistic robbery sequences and in the more stylized scenes.

Brilliant noir! Technically superior for its time, it is very inventively directed, with some amazing compositions and visuals. Even though the plot is fairly standard, you can't help but be drawn in, and the awesome performances from Dall and Cummings make this unforgettable.
