Pretty solidly amusing with some better laughs, and offbeat sensitive guy nature makes for an unusual picture. Those expecting a romance will be disappointed, and those expecting an over the top comedy also. Odd.

Intriguing crime drama has some interesting elements, but is far too scattershot and disorganised to be a success; Neeson is terrific as always, and Platt provides amusing comic support as a rival gangster.

Original and compelling, my favorite Gangster film other than Godfather Part 1

The premise is interesting; a respected undercover agent becomes overwhelmed by the stress of his job. And hell, Neeson as the beleaguered star and Oliver Platt as the violent, insane Mafioso sell the material great. The trouble is, outside of a few amusing scenes, there just isn't much to the script. There's a generic love story which has no real business being there, and some cliched criminal "plan", but the film's charm evaporates 30 minutes in, as they become mired in stock scenes.

Mediocre but watchable. Platt is a riot in this.
