This is an audacious take on the Michael legend. Zombie, true to form, makes this work his own. This isn't the film that his first take on Halloween is, but it is well worth checking out.

Far too many poor scenes, with terrible dialogue and highly unlikable characters. It seemed as though Mr. Zombie wanted to make a gritty film about post-traumatic stress disorder, with low-grade Lynchian touches and far too much non-murder-related screaming (therapy sessions, disputes between characters, etc.). The gulf between Scout Taylor-Compton's Laurie Strode and Jamie Lee Curtis's original incarnation is of oceanic proportions. Have not seen the 2007 remake of which this is the sequel.

Barely passable. I could do without the twist and do without the spiritual family and do without Rob Zombie shoehorning his damn wife into all his movies. Zombie takes the story in a completely different direction than he did with the previous film and it suffers all the more because of it. On the flip side the acting from the veterans was wonderful and that first scene was fantastic -- one thing I can say about Rob Zombie is he knows how to shoot a horror movie.

actually better than zombie's first outing for two reasons, 1. more of zombie's hot wife in those strange avant garde-ish hallucination scenes. 2. the lighting was good. aside from those two things, what we have here is a medium sized body count, unlikeable characters, twenty seconds of nudity, and NOT A SINGLE MEMORABLE KILL. that combined with lackluster gore that consistently goes downhill and a badly written script, well, just don't see this.

"Halloween II" doesn't have a fun inch in it's body, which is another aspect that puts it far outside the boundaries of the slasher flick norm. The film tests audiences expectations to be entertained, and instead confronts them head-on with the harsh realities of the story. The film, quite surprisingly, managed to pull through and become practically the first slasher sequel to make me feel rejuvenated and full of hope in a genre that finds itself in a repetitive cycle of dumb cash-in slashers.

That's what the first should have been the whole time, trying something completely new. Unfortunately it also has some of the same flaws than the first one: unnecessary swearing, excessive violence, mostly unsympathetic characters and some really bad scenes. But then again some scenes are really well filmed and Brad Dourif is great.

I so badly wanted to like this movie. I really did. But I'm not too sure what to make out of it. I'm having a hard time deciding if I like it or not. I love the brutality of Micheal Myers, but I thought that5 Rob Zombie showed way too much and the surgery scene at the hospital was overkill. Brad Dourif is awesome. I'm not too sure if there isn't a more underrated actor as of right now. Too many dream sequences, too many flashbacks. Loved the music that was used though. Rob needs to stop

Instead of paying attention to what made the original Halloween good Rob Zombie has replaced Laurie Strode with an annoying shrill "alternachick" who you don't care one thing about. All the suspense, dread, and memorable music is gone. There is extra gore and Zombie tries to shoehorn in a political message about vegetarianism. Nearly everything about this movie is terrible including the insipid dialog but there are times when the decent cinematography attempts to make up for being a bad film.

I can understand why Halloween fans don't like Rob Zombie's remakes, but I kinda like the direction he went with it. Personally, I I think I see enough human on human violence on the nightly news to really be scared by it, as opposed to the more supernatural type movies, which still get to me. That said, I enjoyed this movie and the characters are fantastic.

Rob Zombie is a monstrous idiot. Where to start? Turning Loomis into a douche, then killing him off? Gore, gore, gore, and no suspense. Scout is goddamn horrible. The dialogue is horrendous. Do you have women issues and want to see several of them pointlessly brutalized in succession? Clearly Zombie does. I'm not expecting high art here, but come the fuck on. Harris and Dourif are the only remotely enjoyable things about this abomination. Oh, and stop putting your ugly terrible wife in movies.

It's odd, but as much as I personally enjoyed the film, I wouldn't actually say I'd recommend it to anyone else. The first half of the film is actually surprisingly engaging, as it's examination of Laurie actually fleshes her out quite a bit as a character. The second half is mostly what we expect, but it commits a fatal mistake in this franchise with it's ending, and spends most of it's warped finale in a state of narrative chaos. Good if you want something different, bad for series fans.

It really wasn't that bad until one of the flattest and chaotic endings commited to film. It was a bad mistake to add in the spiritual connections in the first place. (spoilers) Why would I want to see Laurie end up in a mental institution apparently the new killer? If this is a start to a new chapter in the series, horror fans might want to sit out on this one.

Meh. It's not completely terrible. It throws you a bone once in a while, but it really doesn't do anything special and relies way too heavily on old cliches. I'm aware that the slasher genre is ripe with cliches anyway and it's hard to avoid but you can still be clever. There were no real memorable scenes, which sucks because Myers is such a great villain. The symbolism seemed really tacked on a lot of the time and the ending sucked. But it had a lot of attractive girls. And Weird Al.

This one is apt to divide folks, but I personally thought it was great. It was far superior to Zombie's medicore remake and, while retaining many of the pitfalls of that film (Some terrible dialogue, unlikeable characters), it had some beautiful and haunting scenes. Brad Dourif, as Sheriff Brackett, plays both the best and most sympathetic of the movie's characters. Zombie's shout-out to the original Halloween 2 is also great. Just be warned, going in, that you'll either love it or hate it.

As I told Obby, "is it sad that the Weird Al part was the most enjoyable part of the movie for me?". The horror cliches are literally dripping down the walls of this flick, and it's so reliant on jump-scares that, I dunno, it just wasn't... good. It's hard to rag on horror flicks sometimes, but it's not memorable at all. I woulda boned any of the chicks in it, so yay points there, but other than that I just didn't get into it at all. And the dream sequence beginning just pissed me off.

So fucking terrible. One could go on and on. Between Scout Taylor Compton shouting "fuck!" every five minutes (because now she's a rebellious teen with lots of angst), a glowing vision of Michael's mother riding a white horse telling him to kill people in the most inanely soothing voice, and some hot girl incidentally being strangled when she goes off to some random dude's van to have sex at a party, because that always goes well in horror movies....I don't know. Somewhere I had just had enough.

omg what a missed opportunity. This movie is so horrible. The only scene that made it decent was the Danielle Harris scene..Rob Zombie is such a mediocre talent..one good movie out of 5...

If only Zombie cared as much about his scripts as he did getting those amazing shots.

Zombie's crowning masterpiece Halloween II finds the criminally underrated director exercising totally free of the constraints both of the series he's become involved in and the B-movies that have inspired his filmmaking career. In horror filmmaking, this is an entirely different beast to any slasher film that's come before it, invigoratingly following its own path, winding up as rich in sorrow and dramatic weight as it is in the spilling of blood. Palm it off and it most certainly is your loss.

I hated Rob's remake and I hate this almost as much. It is slightly better, but not by much. Zombie is a bad filmmaker, with an interesting vision. However, I am sick of all the white trash characters that inhabit all of his films. I also hate how characters are introduced only to be killed off a few minutes later, just to amp up the body count. The strip club scene????? Not scary.

A mammoth disappointment, especially considering how big of an apologist I am for Zombie's first "stab" at the Halloween franchise (ho ho ho). The first scene is claustrophobic, intense, and easily the best part of the film, but regrettably "it was all a dream!" When the movie finally decides to start (for real this time), we're treated to a rather uninspired melange of book signings, Halloween concerts, teenage angst, and daydreams about white horses. Its sloppy, chaotic ending is only fitting.
