Summary: Every time John Harrington hacks up a bride on her wedding night with a meat cleaver, the face of his mother's killer (who died similarly) becomes a bit more clear. Compelled to discover the killer's identity, he kills again and again, even killing his own unloveable wife, who returns to haunt him as a ghost that everybody can see...but him! (imdb)
Its suffers from its erratic tone, switching emphasis between potential main or sub- plots and changing the genre of the film multiple times because of this, but once it finds a key aspect of interest it turns into a refreshing European genre film. It helps that Mario Bava, before the giallo genre was at its peak, already picked apart the murder mystery in this, creating a film which pulls the rug under your feet multiple times just when you think you know where it's going.
[You commented on this movie] Review: I was really surprised by this movie, it exceeded my expectations. Well, at first it doesn't make much sense and you get confused, but it's because the character is trying to put the story together himself, and it all makes sense in the end. The movie also has some humor, which makes it even more enjoyable.
Has its moments. Mainly due to some nifty editing/lighting tricks, a convincing psychotic in the killer role, and an awesome opening. You know what, this is actually pretty impressive -- a return might prove beneficial.
