This movie is a blight. A grimy, unpleasant abomination. Okay, sure, I watched it to see Anne Hathaway's breasts and on that count it delivered, but the movie turned out to be such a festering sore that I just felt embarrassed watching an actress I generally like anchor such a shit pile. Then the otherwise awesome Joseph Gordon-Levitt showed up and I cringed even harder. Not turning this movie off half an hour in was a motherfucking herculean effort. Made eighty minutes feel like eight hours.

Anne Hathaway's tits. That's it.

It's a frustrating movie because the motivations of the characters are unclear and don't seem justified.

The glossy made-for-tv look kills the gritty and threatening atmosphere they were going for. The white kids acting hip-hop was so overdone it felt like a teen comedy not a drama. There are always complaints that non-white characters are stereotyped in Hollywood, but stereotyping and humiliating white guys like they're morons shouldn't be ok either.

Yikes. I thought this movie might be cool because it reminded me of my early life growing up. I did like rap music, liked to recite the lyrics to my favorite 2Pac songs, and I enjoyed trying to sag my pants. But that's when there the similarities ended. I'm not a girl. I also never had the guts to travel into the middle of a gang infested area TWICE in one week. I wasn't playing drinking games in hotel rooms at that age either. This movie is messed up and the message is stupid.

Gaghan can and should be doing significantly better than this. Hathaway likely took the project as a way to shake her image as a Disney princess, but if you really need to see her tits, watch Brokeback Mountain instead. Oh, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance is worth mentioning, if only for being simultaneously awesome and utterly ridiculous. In that regard, it's a bit like his Cobra Commander. This guy livens up even the most awful of films.

I considered this more as an educational film. Definitely not for entertainment. At least not for me.

There is Reality Bites, where youngsters are looking for themseves. There is Crazy Beautiful where rich, spoiled, sexually free white trash girl fell in love with poor mixed bllod poor boy. What Havoc tries to do, it fails totally. Anna Hathaway is sure stunning looking girl, but this story as a moive reaches nowhere. Hathaway's character is lost, but director cannot bring her anywhere, cannot show anything worth for a movie.

While remaining a good movie, Hathaway's character wasn't completely believable, especially her transition at the end of the movie. Very real aspect of the L.A. streets though, making for a ultimately believable movie story.
