Pacino and De Niro in the same scene. Together. Finally. Excellent script with all the fireworks you'd expect, as well as a surprising look into emotional and personal sacrifice. Beautiful cinematography shows industrial landscape to great effect. Mann held onto the screenplay for 12 years.

Sometimes I wish there was an alternate ending :)

An excellent film with an excellent cast (save for Val Kilmer) by an excellent director. It contains one of the best shootout sequences in film history.

The Swiss watch of the crime genre, and it is ticking down to the climactic showdown the entire running time. It's also the best cinematic tribute to Los Angeles besides Chinatown, freeway lights barely illuminating the velvet darkness. Heat is the apex of De Niro and Pacino's late careers; after this they both have been reduced to self parody (Pacino's already begun in this film, but he's so damn entertaining). Could stand to lose the Portman subplot though.

Very good ensemble but doesn't necessarily consist of good acting. Bland story, 2D characters. A bit overrated because of the Pacino-De Niro showdown. But has this cool Michael Mann vibe.

Heat is bordering camp-town at times (especially Pacino's lines) but that doesn't stop it from being intriguing and infinitely quotable. Michael Mann is also a very technically proficient director if nothing else. The fire fight scene is still one of the best ever on film.

Fuck Scarface, this is the Pacino movie to see.

all the ingredients you need for a great actionmovie. Great characters: you have the cool professional bad guy; you psycho guy, you have the good cop living for his work etc... altough it's a storyline with some traditional features, it never bored me. great action movie, without much mumbo jumbo!
