If you want a movie about a demon raised by humans to fight evil, this is a great movie for you. Del Toro's direction style is very kinetic and flowing which keep the pace of the movie going. The real draw for this film, however, is Hellboy and his team. Perlman is the perfect Hellboy. His delivery is nothing short of perfect, creating an acerbic, yet lovable character. He has a wry humor about him makes the character understandable. If you liked the first one, this is just your kind of movie.

Really a fascinating film visually, but the actual story is all over the map. It's as if del Toro doesn't quite know what he wants this to be, or at least it seems that way.

Elves from Hong Kong. A fun feast for your eyes, but the creatures are remarkably similar to things seen in both Samurai Jack and Princess Mononoke.

This film is crammed with inedible quality all found within certain features. There's a enourmous catalogue of creatures that are so considerably detailed with rich, lavish characteristics and the enviroments are absolutely sensational, beautiful, colorful, mesmerising and spectacular on every artistic level. Del Toro breathes into this Fantasy tour de force with amazing imaginative wit and creativity. All in all, a powerful action flick with millions of leading strengths holding it up.

Considering the quality of Pan's Labyrinth there is no question Del Toro has considerable talent. Before that came out it seemed his efforts were mildly wasted with Blade II and the first Hellboy, as occassionally cool as they were. With Hellboy II we get a meld of the brilliant fantasy in Pan's Labyrinth with the stylish hard action of his past endeavors. Del Toro is a master of art design and this movie solidifies his stake as one of the top talents in film. In every sense Hellboy II is a grea

I am a huge Hellboy fan and Ron Perlman is fantastic, and as stated the monsters and makeup are all great. Every scene just seems like there's so much going on I wish I could just wander around in it. But the plot is beyond juvenile and the movie drags. Still, a great entry in the franchise.

Creatures and visuals as creepy and beautiful as one has come to hope from Del Toro's films, but the plot wasn't very engaging -- downright stupid, in fact. Worth a watch, if you've got a big TV and are in the mood for some mindless popcorn fun.

It was the love story that really sold HELLBOY, but here in II the love story is the weakest element. Sadly, that means what have here is just another fantasy adventure, and yes it's fun and full of the striking imagery that is del Toro's trademark; but it has no root. Even the interaction between Perlman and the wonderful Jeffrey Tambor isn't up to snuff: the material just isn't there. A fun matinee movie but I can't imagine watching it again and again, as I have HELLBOY.

A movie of epic scale that disappointed me slightly for not making the characters interesting enough. Guillermo lets his gear/clockwork fetish get the best of him, but we are still left with a visually brilliant and somewhat sarcastic take on the genre-distorting red badass.
