I just didn't 'get' it.

Lee's clearly learned a lot from his mentor. He's picked up many of Tsai's tics, including long takes, little dialogue, themes of alienation, people using the toilet, and fantasy musical numbers. But he doesn't take it to the same extremes. It has more of a narrative line and upfront theme. I'd like to see him develop more of his own style, but what results is something that is simultaneously imitative and original. Lee, pushing 40 at this point, might be a little old to play this character.
