Summary: Henry IV is facing revolt even as his son, Prince Hal, dallies in the tavern with the incorrigible rogue Sir John Falstaff. Will Prince Hal see the duty inherent in his birthright and privilege, or will he remain tainted by his self-made disrepute, unable to regain the honour that he secretly nourishes within himself?

While Finch carries on with his wonderful performance from Richard II, transforming from Henry Bolingbroke into Henry IV, Gwillim's Prince Hal and Quayle's Falstaff are merely acceptable, and don't bring to the screen the boisterous joy that this play so desperately needs. This is an alright adaptation of a difficult play, but it could be done so much better.
