This is pretty stupid in a lot of ways, but it moves like a movie and features a great opening sequence with Jerry Lee Lewis and his piano in the back of a moving pickup. Besides, Mamie Van Doren is at her improbably sexy, comedic best as Tamblyn's seductive "mother" and John Drew Barrymore is a really good baddie. Sure, it's stupid. But not too stupid for me!

An engagingly silly period piece, with hysteria about drugs, determination to be up to date with its teenage slang ('Tomorrow is dragsville, cats') and portentous final statement following a fight between students and gun-toting gangsters: 'You have just seen an authentic disclosure of conditions that unfortunately exist in some of our high schools today...'
