It bounces haphazardly between moments of absolute genius and sections that are cringeworth enough to leave a bad taste in your mouth. Dom DeLuise, however, makes so much out of his (unfortunately brief) role as the Emperor that the film can be forgiven a lot of its sins.

Definitely Mel Brooks' worst film. A couple segments are funny, but on the whole they're just beating the same horses over and over again. Thankfully, Brooks found his funny bone again in the late 80s and early 90s.

Starts out strong but slows in the middle and end. Not quite Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstien but your still going to get a good number of laughs.

The first half hour are hilarious...but once they get into the main storyline...it kind of drags. I'm not the biggest Mel Brooks fan, so keep that in mind.

A fun look at the history of mankind. And some solid eye candy for an early 80s film. The french revolution was pretty much awesome cleavage shots for 15 mins.
