Decent documentary that features one of the more infamous incidents in professional wrestling history (I haven't been a wrestling fan in probably 15 years, but I was familiar with it). It drags at times, and that's mostly because I don't find Bret Hart the person to be that interesting. The Hitman character and his interactions with the WWF make it worth a viewing though, even if it feels like there's more to the story than was covered here.

While it is a fairly bland style the subject matter is quite interesting.

Arguably the best documentary ever made, this is a story about loyalty, hardwork, respect, and the disturbing shift in attitude of the next generation disillusioned by the heroes of old.

I watched this as part of a Netflix-induced wave of nostalgia recently and enjoyed it immensely. I watched some wrestling growing up and was familiar with Bret Hart, but I had lost interest by the time this doc was made. It's an interesting look into changing times in the wrestling world. Sure to entertain anyone who was ever a wrestling fan and most likely interesting enough to engage those unfamiliar with its subject and protagonist.

Informative only if you're a child, which I was back when I first saw it. Otherwise, it doesn't present nearly enough information about the people and situations involved. Instead, all we get is Bret Hart's simple-minded, wholesome persona and slant, with bare bones accounts. I was reminded of this documentary after reading Bret's autobiography, which is vastly more honest, self-aware, interesting, and offers a deeper, wider account of everything that occurred during the filming period.

What makes "Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows" so great, above anything else, was completely beyond the filmmaker's control - the timing. Originally intended to be a bio-pic about Bret Hart, the film is an eye-witness to one of the most infamous moments in professional wrestling history. Though it can be very one-sided, that perspective is setup from the onset, so it can be forgiven. The only disappointment was that it doesn't have a real resolution; instead subtitles attempt to fill the void.

Completely absorbing for wrestling fans, and I think non-fans with open minds might be pleasantly surprised at just how engaging it is. Credit to the filmmaker, but man, did this fall in his lap! Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I enjoyed this more than "Beyond the Mat" and rank it as my 2nd favorite pro-wrestling film behind "Heroes of World Class".

Absolutely one for wrestling fans, and maybe worth a look for those that aren't. Decent insight into the controversial incident in sports entertainment history.

Fascinating. I loved Bret Hart as a wrestler, but he really comes across as a whiny bitch.

Intentionally recut to make Hart look like the victim. Two other films that MUST be watched along with this; to get the real, complete story. Best there is.... from WWE films, Bret Screwed Bret from Chair films. The reality that this film skipped over is EVERYONE was equally at fault for the issue. Bret failed to DO WHAT HE WAS TOLD to do by his boss. Anyone else would have been fired on the spot or gone to WCW, which is what Bret did. Enjoy 1/3 of the story and see the other films as wel
