"Enjoyable, despite some big flaws. Characters are painted with a very broad brush and the whole thing is extremely melodramatic, but there are fine performances from the whole cast and Ulmer's direction is consistently engaging. Lots of reviews mention the influence of Citizen Kane, but it seems to me that this film influenced The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) more than Citizen Kane influenced this." - Fri, 18:03
