Phenomenal. Kingsley is simply the best actor of our time. Not for one minute did i question anything his character did. the same goes for Aghdashloo, and to a slightly lesser extent Connelly. Perelman's directing was fantastic, allowing the characters more than enough room. There is one scene towards the end, where maybe he could have approached it differently, but that's it. his linking of kingsley and connelly was very subtle (though maybe a bit too much with the bird references)

Going through this I knew it was depressing, and it definitely dampened my mood but it wasn't until about an hour and a half into it that it really hit me. And now, "I want only my son" is drilled into my head. The acting in this is all great, and while it's a bit slow, it works mostly because it truly builds. The characters are all very human. The movie doesn't choose a side so much as portray it realistically, and it goes to the logical end.

Great. Ben Kingsley is as always amazing, here as the Iranian immigrant stumbling upon the deal of a lifetime. The real estate conflict is deftly portrayed, the dreams, hopes and fears of both parties exposed brilliantly. The movie has its minor flaws, could've been shorter by atleast 15 minutes, but that's just my quibbles. Very highly recommended.

Jennifer Connelly looking sad for 2 hours...what's new? She overacts the hell out of this and Eldard is dreadful - luckily Kingsley and Aghdashloo are saving graces. One of my favorite Kingsley performances, and there are a lot to choose from. The photography is gripping, and the subtle beauty/ugliness of the house is really well done. The narritive gets a little bogged down in the end, but this is still quite an entertaining film if you feel like being depressed for a bit.

I wasn't interested in seeing this because the trailers made it seem like the two main characters were trying to destroy each other. That's pretty accurate, although this film is so well-made and compelling, which overrode my initial reluctance.

Might've been the first movie I saw where neither of the leads are likable in almost any way, it's dark and depressing without end.

Excellent acting, directing and avoids the flaws this kind of story could easily fell into. Foggy sceneries are stunning. The title of the movie is perfect: Connelly is a broken bird in a fog and Kingsley's family is bringing sand in their shoes. You can see sand coming out of a sand castle they're building up or sand from their home country's beach. So please, be careful with your mail!
