It constantly teeters on the edge of self-parody, and the politics is a little patronising, but I found this pretty charming, and had more than one guffaw.

The laughs were a big part of the movie, but then you leave and realize a lot of the were from over-the-top situations. The movie is about 2 Victorian era doctors who treat women for hysteria. It said it's "based on actual events....Really", but it's exceedingly loosely based on them. Probably better to think of it as fiction.

At times, quite flat in humour. But with some original ideas. Still I had to laugh loudly during the movie, which does not happen that often. interesting story

A few good laughs. And for the negative: Predictable. Only girls will ever really like this. And there is NOTHING as unsexy as a bad copy of England in the 1880's.

There's not too much going on here but it's all very pleasantly watchable and a decent way to pass the time. If not for Rupert Everett, this would score lower for me - he induced hilarity by his mere presence in any scene. Gyllenhaal was a bit too over the top and was annoying more of the time than not.

Well, the idea was nice. There was several funny scenes, but actually the result did not surprise at all. The end went flat as did with House of Pleasures. I expected more clear bridge to modern days.

Another pandering effort and absolute insult to your intelligence that had the entire audience laughing nonetheless. You've got the banal humour laced with childish slapstick, next is the text infused with trite sexual innuendos and last but not least, animals mating. Absolutely hilarious, right ? Right ?! Wrong !!!
