Summary: Few are aware that America may be on the brink of a financial meltdown. I.O.U.S.A. explores the country's shocking current fiscal condition and ways to avoid a national economic disaster.
This film angered me to no end. It touches on some important things, but it just cruises over a lot of a topics briefly and misses a lot of key arguments, all while having some hypocritcal messages at it's forefront. The underlying message is good, but as a movie....meh.
"It's too bad Creadon breezes through potential solutions to the problem and ends his film with what basically amounts to a Rock the Vote ad." - Sal Cinquemani
Brilliantly executed, nonpartisan explanation of the fiscal cancer which is eating America inside out, and which very few people understand or even know enough about. Creadon takes a topic which might have been otherwise difficult to digest, and explains it in layman's language with lucidity and a sense of much-needed urgency. Interview excerpts with financial bellwethers like Warren Buffet, David Walker and Alan Greenspan also helps push Creadon's point across. A must watch for every American.
First move I've seen in quite some time that I really don't feel like writing a review for. I mean, we're dealing with some real hard facts here so I'd say it's nearly impossible to grade this as "entertainment". It did present some very factual and overwhelmingly complex information in as breezy and easy-to-understand a manner as probably is humanly possible. One thing that I enjoyed in particular was how relentlessly bleak its tone was near its end; no sugarcoating of our dire predicament.
