This is, without a doubt, the single most hammiest thing I've ever seen. Every English thespian who was big in the 70's is alternately bawling and shouting, and while it's fun to watch Brian Blessed and the like do it for a while I can only take so much. John Hurt's Caligula raises the score by a fair bit.

Well-made study of the depravity of later Roman times. Pathetic production values by modern standards (this is the BBC in the '70s, so think "Dr. Who" and "Blake's 7"), but solid material performed by an all-star cast; Sian Phillips in particular is outstanding, in a role that's much better than anything she's gotten to play in the movies. I'll watch this again before (e.g.) _Gladiator_ any day of the week

Has suffered with aging. Still impressive and an attention grabber.

Bortset fra pap-kulisser og engelske accenter, er Claudius en fantastisk fortælling om de romerske rige!
