Film premise: 1.Fuck a sexy bitch 2.Die

Hey kids! You like violence? You like torture? You like rape? Well, then this is your lucky day, because this one has it all! And we'll throw in some additional rape, just for you. Isn't that grand? Just don't show it to your mommy or girlfriend, ok? There, another satisfied customer. Enjoy your 110 minutes of bleak and pointless cruelty! Come again!

rape scene was entirely to long & the whole thing with the sheriffs daughter wasn't prudent to the story but over all enjoyed this re-make

Now I found the first half of this film very lame for me, but the second half made up for it. This film is good for what it is, it is not meant to blow anyone away with its technical and story telling accomplishments. An entertaining grindhouse remake.

A complete waste of time.

Okay Movie

A horror movie that completely disregards anything resembling a plot in favor of some more violence. Not a great movie, but it's easy to see why it has its fans.

An average film by it's own merits, nothing here surpasses the original. The promise it starts with fades away once the modern horror cliches start coming thick and fast.

The rape sequence is a lot less sexually graphic, but the element of psychological terror is ramped up to an uncomfortable level in this remake. The revenge section is quite different from the original, the punishment she inflicts on each rapist is poetically appropriate and way gorier than anything Camille Keaton dished up. Visually kinda boring and really grimy looking, and there's plot holes you could drive a Mack truck through, but whatever.

Oh my God, the guy they got to play the gas station jockey says some of the spookiest rapiest things before the attack: "What's a chicken like you doing in a coop like this?"

better than the original, dropping part of the shock factor because of passage of time, yet still somewhat effective. plus butler is much hotter than keaton, but that doesn't negate the fact that the rape stuff takes up about half the movie, leaving too little time for the more satisfying revenge killing.

Too much brutalitiy.

A good remake as horror flicks go.

The last in a tidal wave of remakes of classic scaries, this version of ISoYG is fashioned in accordance with the torture porn fad of the aughties, so the vengeance scenes are far more elaborate and crueler. While Meir Zarchi's was a B-movie made on a shoestring budget, the remake boasts expensive production and is more technically accomplished in every way. Genre fans should be entertained, but it lacks psychological subtlety present in the original, and doesn't add anything of substance.

Slabizna, ale ostatnie 30 minut moga sie spodobac.

Revenge movie about a girl who is brutally savaged by 5 men including the local cop. She narrowly survives and returns to get revenge. The problem with this movie is that so much of the story is untold. So instead of giving us a comprehensive story they concentrate on the the horrific scenes, and fail to show much of anything else. Some nice nudity but in a rape scene. Mostly just gory torture and mutilation. Poor direction and lousy story telling.

If this is your kind of movie, well, you'll probably enjoy it. You need to be able to overlook the predictable plot, elaborate revenge schemes and implausibility in order to call this a good movie, and then you'll still have to overcome the fact that pretty much everything that happens once the second act rolls around is vile and repulsive. This wasn't for me, and I had absolutely no fun while watching I Spit on Your Grave.

The second half of the movie is reduced to cliched, cartoon-ish, semi-interesting horror-flick impossibilities. But that's the second half. The FIRST half, is not about displaying the visual graphic-ness of a gang-rape, but so much more about the psychological torment of pre-rape torture. And it definitely pushes that envelope to a level I've never seen before. But I have to ask... what the fuck happened to the daughter? Is that a cliffhanger, or lazy writing? Can't bring myself to recommend it.

Without having seen the original, I have to say, this is tough. The rape scene was too long and really hard to watch. After that you get a violent and graphic vendetta. I would say each one of those assholes got what they deserved but I won't watch this ever again.

Being slightly better than a trashy no-budget exploitation film from 1978 is a dubious honor, but...kudos, I guess?
