An occasionally funny "romantic"-comedy, this is more of an exercise in self-appreciation. Silverman, Sedaris, and Hunt are funny as always, but I have a hard time swallowing Garlin as a lead in anything, let alone a romance.

The only time the film hits is when Silverman and Garlin are let loose in the supermarket. Beyond that, for all the supposed 'comedic' talent on display, the entire effort remains shockingly unfunny.

Written by, directed by and starring Jeff Garlin, Larry David's manager from Curb Your Enthusiasm, and it feels a bit like an episode of Curb. It has a very weird plot structure, as in there isn't really a plot. This small period of the main character's life is not his best or worst time, just a transition period, and barely that. It was funny, but not that funny. I dunno, it was a really odd experience. I can't recommend it one way or another.

Feels more like a series of skits than a movie, though it does tie up several plot threads in a lyrical last scene worthy of vintage Woody Allen.

It seems like a cross between just above the average Woody Allen film and one of Larry's Curb your enthusiasm episodes. Sometimes it's a bit clumsy, but that didn't bother me too much...

Jeff Garlin is a comedic genius. Here he writes, directs, and stars in a great rom com for people who hate rom coms. Many people know him from Curb Your Enthusiasm, but this is just another great example that Garlin can do much more than simply hold his own. This movie (a long with his hilarious stand up material) really show how good he is. Anyone looking for a light film that retains quality should seriously consider this movie.
