Back in the day, Ice Age was great, however no I have to compare it unfavourably with it's sequels which have developed better and have more humour. What the first movie has in it's favour is its approach to deeper issues such as peer pressure and families. All the white and brown does make the film feel rather dull though.

A group of misfit animals on a long adventure... That'll never work. Seriously though, the characters are interesting and varied with good personalities, if at times a little bit unoriginal. It's an enjoyable film that anyone can enjoy. Well, anyone except pandas, but they're always miserable.

There was a lot to appreciate about this film. It had a solid plot, protagonists you could feel for, and a journey worth watching the whole way. I take points away for depth and Ray Romano.
