Always good to see Fields and the final segment was particularly well done.

Overstuffed. Would've been better off with fewer, longer stories.

A swell, simple-in-design film that sees a rich businessman galavanting about town rewarding random individuals the American dream with varying results. Comic for the bulk, the film only finds legitimate pathos in the final segment but is nonetheless a hugely engaging work until then.

Pre-screwball omnibus comedy is (as with most such films) a mixed bag. The W.C. Fields section was probably the best, though the simplicity of Charles Laughton's scene was brilliant.
