romanian new wave still going strong. a fun watch, gets a bit too over the top towards the end though.

uneven. has some powerful elements, but also poor ones. the story is quite good, but the script is very weak at some points.

It annoyed me and bored me during passages, but the acting was quite good. I'm just afraid this wave of romanian films is exactly my thing. It's Dardenne-ish, but even that style became fatigued in Serbans grasp, it was a somewhat weak paraphrase over something that had potential for so much more, due to an actually very well written plot.

The good performances can't save this terrible movie.

It starts out well. The movie is well-cast and the guy playing the protagonist is very believable. Following him around, often in Dardenne-style long-takes, you accept the meandering pace up until the last act which is uninspired and just plain boring.
