"Wim Wenders' documentary takes an usual approach to its subject, German choreographer Pina Bausch; she died shortly before filming began, and some archival footage aside, we don't see her--but we see her work. Her troupe performs four of her pieces, and they are striking; thrilling movements, imaginative settings, and fine use of music. We also see some pieces done around the troupe's base town of Wuppertal; they are no less imaginative. Lovely cinematography and imagery; mild lack of depth." - 85
